TheGrass Skyline is like a dragon, entrenched in the mountains and hills. When visitors are driving along the route, they feel like strolling in the clouds as the sky and land are linked by the Grass Skyline. That's the reason that it is reputed as Tianluwhich means the road to sky in Chinese. There is also a large number of places of historic figures, cultural heritages as well as geological resources for tourism along the Grass Skyline, such as the Ancient Great Wall, Soviet Union and Mongolia Martyrs Cemetery, Birch Ridge, Rock Mountains and Da Geda Stone Forest.
“草原天路”犹如一条蛟龙，盘踞于群山峻岭之颠，蓝天与之相接，白云与之呼应，行走在天路之上，就像是漫步在云端，故而得名“天路”。草原天路沿线分布着古长城遗址、苏蒙联军烈士陵园、桦皮岭、岩片山、大圪垯石柱群等大量人文、生态和地质旅游资源。
The best times to visit the Grass Skyline are mid-June and mid-October. During the alternation between spring and summer, kinds of flowers dot among the whole grasslands including alfalfa flower, potatoes flower, sun flowers and rape flowers. Swaying flowers make the visitors being exposed to a fairy tale world.
每年6月中旬-10月中旬是去天路的最佳时节。春夏交接的时候，苜蓿、土豆花、向日葵和油菜花等各种颜色的花朵点缀在草原之上，漫山遍野，随风摇曳，让人仿佛置身童话世界。
Autumn is a good season to see crisscrossing and vertical terraced fields which are rare landscapes in north China.
秋季则是看梯田的好时候，纵横交错、层次分明的梯田是北方不多见的风光。
Birch Ridge in winter has a more wonderful view with plenty of snow, where the snowfall time is up to 120 days each year. It provides a natural and economical condition for skiing and skating, which also enables the traveling time to be extended into four seasons.

草原天路脚下尘封的记忆
"小河的水清悠悠，庄稼盖满了沟，解放军进山来，帮助咱们闹秋收……"著名艺术家马玉涛演唱的这首老歌——《看见你们格外亲》，几十年来唱遍了大江南北，影响着几代人。
歌词中"小河水清悠悠"，正是指张北县战海乡的天泉河，这条河现在是张北县东坝头草原天路中的一个旅游景点——天鹿大本营旅游区。这条小河从古至今湍流不息，不断滋润着沿河两畔的农田草地，同时也养育着一代又一代沿河受益的农民。
