We booked this hotel as it is in a great location at the start of the walking street and I am an Accor member. This hotel is in the same building as another hotel and the two reception desks are on either side of the same entrance hall, something I've never seen before. While I appreciate the hotel is new and staff are still finding their feet, the level of service we received was abysmal. We arrived at 3pm to be told that they had not rooms ready because they were busy and twin rooms were scarce. We were advised by reception that it'd be 15mins or so to prepare the room. I booked this room one month in advice, on Accor's own website, and the Mercure chongqing's own policy for check in is from 12pm onwards. We were speechless. To make it worse, they stated that they were busy as the hotel was full, but while we were at reception we witnessed a person change rooms 3 times as he wasn't happy with his room. We were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel and just wanted to get to our room. But they obviously are not able to deal with foreign guests as 4 people spent 20mins flipping back and forth through our passports and repeatedly putting our passports in the scanner. I was just happy that it came back in one piece. The room we had was comfortable. the partial view was nice from the 31st floor. There is no security that we could see at the hotel and anyone could come up the lifts. We tried to use the Wi-Fi. As with other Chinese Accor hotels, the login page had the Chinese page where a code is required with a Chinese mobile, and an English page where you could just enter your room number and name. At this hotel, the English login would other work, and when we asked reception they simply said the English page will not work and one of them said we could use his mobile number... We didn't have breakfast as no one told us which floor the restaurant was on or what time breakfast was. (keeping in mind there were 2 hotels together across 35 floors with no signs anywhere). Overall do not recommend for anyone from overseas.
